Remember Me
Developer: Dontnod Entertainment
Publisher: Capcom
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
Release date: June 4, 2013
Genres: Interactive cinema, stealth, action-adventure
Mode: Single-player

The game is set in the year 2084, in a futuristic version of Paris called Neo-Paris. In the story, Mega-corporation MEMORIZE has invented a new brain implant called the Sensation Engine (Sensen), which enables roughly 99% of the population to upload and share their actual memories on the net. This gives MEMORIZE an immense degree of control over the population and enables them to establish a surveillance state. This, in turn, leads to a small group of rebels forming under the name “Errorists”: their mission is to bring down MEMORIZE.

The invention of the Sensen has also resulted in the creation of Leapers: formally memory-addicted humans, they have absorbed so many memories through the net that their Sensen has degraded and they have mutated into a subhuman form, now living in the sewers of Neo-Paris.

When the game starts, a memory hunter named Nilin who’s employed by MEMORIZE and specialized in stealing or altering memories, has her own memory wiped by her employers. Now on the run, she allies with the Errorists and, with help from the rebel leader Edge, sets out to recover her lost memories and bring down MEMORIZE.

Lookin’ at you, Facebook and YouTube. Cut the shenanigans.

Dark
Developer: Realmforge Studios
Publisher: Kalypso Media
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360
Release date: June 11, 2013
Genres: Stealth, action role-playing
Mode: Single-player

The game follows the story of Eric Bane, a newly turned vampire suffering from amnesia. He learns that his transformation is not complete and that, if he does not drink the blood of his sire, he will mutate into a mindless ghoul.

The gameplay is based on stealth combat. Eric has many supernatural vampiric ‘skills’ at his disposal; “shadow leaping”, temporary invisibility, night vision, ability to employ bullet time / slow motion, and others, which use up ‘blood points’ that can be restored by drinking the blood of enemies.

Sounds like a new-fangled hangover cure.

The Last of Us
Developer: Naughty Dog
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Platform: PlayStation 3
Release date:June 14, 2013
Genres: Action-adventure, survival horror
Modes: Single-player, multiplayer

The story is set two decades after a fungus has killed millions, with nature gradually retaking the abandoned cities and towns. The survivors are hemmed inside quarantine zones, completely under the heel of the United States military, with order and screening for any Infected being viciously maintained under martial law.

Joel, a hardened black-marketeer within one of the quarantine zones, goes through an event which makes him promise an old friend that he will get a young, fourteen year old girl named Ellie, away from the harsh regime to a resistance group known as the Fireflies. They begin a journey through the U.S., avoiding the Infected, humanoid creatures whose sole aim has become spreading the fungal infection. Joel and Ellie also have to avoid scavengers that survive outside the quarantine zones who see Joel and Ellie as their latest prey. Adding to their problems, the military is determined to find Ellie and bring her back under their power.

The game uses third-person view. The player controls Joel, while Ellie is controlled by the AI. A new gameplay mechanic called “dynamic stealth” allows for many different types of strategies and techniques to which enemies react differently. The AI system called “Balance of Power” allows enemies to react realistically to any combat situation they are placed in by taking cover if they see the player, calling for help if they need it and even taking advantage of the players’ weaknesses.

The title has won numerous awards from publications like IGN, Destructoid, Machinima.com, GameSpot, Digital Trends, Game Informer, The Telegraph, Electronic Gaming Monthly, The Verge, and many more.

Company of Heroes 2
Developer: Relic Entertainment
Publisher: Sega
Platform: Microsoft Windows
Release Date: June 25, 2013
Genre: Real-time strategy
Modes: Single-player, multiplayer

The game’s story will focus on the Eastern Front campaign as narrated through flashbacks by Lev Abramovich Isakovich, a Soviet Army lieutenant locked up at a gulag in Siberia in 1952.

The new line-of-sight technology, TrueSight, aims to better emulate troop visibility in real combat. In contrast with traditional unit visibility, TrueSight more accurately represents a unit’s visibility range based on environmental conditions and type of unit. Essence 3.0 will also incorporate an innovative weather-simulating technology known as ColdTech and destructible environments.

Weather conditions will be a major factor in gameplay, with movement and action penalties applied on players’ units. Since many battles in the Eastern Front occurred in winter weather, troops can die of frostbite if caught in the outside during blizzards. Bonfires protect soldiers from the cold at the expense of enemy detection. Players moving through deep snow will move at a reduced speed.

The frost, it sometimes makes the blade stick. Name that movie.

Other Marvel comic-book characters, such as Domino, Wolverine, Cable, Rogue, Red Hulk, Mister Sinister and his Marauders, namely Arclight, Blockbuster, Vertigo, and Riptide, as well as Psylocke are set to appear in the video game

The game will be a third-person action game with new combos becoming available to Deadpool as he progresses. The game will be a combination of melee and shooting, with huge emphasis in big hammers, sai, swords and guns. Deadpool will frequently break the fourth wall and verbally interact with the player based on their skill and progress.

NEVER BREAK THE FOURTH WALL, DEADPOOL!
